As Infecções de Sítio Cirúrgico (ISC) representam uma das principais complicações entre os pacientes submetidos a cirurgias, destacando-se as ocorridas em cirurgias ortopédicas dependentes de implantes, que comumente se manifestam após a alta hospitalar, portanto a vigilância destes pacientes após alta é essencial para detecção precoce da ISC. Objetivo: objetivou-se identificar o intervalo de tempo entre a realização da cirurgia e a manifestação das ISC de tais pacientes. Método: Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura, que utilizou artigos selecionados nas bases de dados da Pubmed, Science Direct, e Scopus. Resultados: Identificou-se o tempo de manifestação da ISC em 30 dias, sendo a infecção de órgão/cavidade a de maior incidência (57,9%); o método de vigilância predominante nos estudos analisados foram ligações telefônicas (57,8%); e a vigilância por 30 dias foi descrito em 41,7% desses. Conclusão: Verificou-se assim que a mudança dos critérios proposta pelo NHSN/CDC para vigilância após a alta hospitalar, de 30 a 90 dias se justifica diante do tempo de manifestação da ISC predominante nos estudos analisados.Palavras-chave: cirurgia, infecção hospitalar, prevenção e controle, ortopedia.
