Objetivo: Compreender a influência do exercício físico sobre o imunometabolismo e a aterosclerose. Revisão bibliográfica: A atividade física e as mudanças no estilo de vida apresentam efeitos positivos na função do endotélio vascular e na reatividade microvascular em obesos. Nesse sentido, a atividade física deve ser feita pelo menos com duração igual a 150 minutos por semana, se a intensidade for moderada ou 75 minutos se intensidade for vigorosa para impedir ou controlar patologias crônicas não transmissíveis, associadas aos hábitos de vida. O exercício realizado de forma crônica é um fator que previne o desenvolvimento da aterosclerose, e para que o exercício traga esse benefício deve-se atentar para o tipo, duração e frequência. A atividade aeróbia é mais eficiente nesse processo e pode aumentar de forma significativa a expectativa de vida do paciente. Considerações finais: Os elevados índices de obesidade e aterosclerose prejudicam a homeostase do imunometabolismo, necessitando de hábitos de vida saudáveis como a prática regular de exercício físico, que auxilia no controle desses agravos em saúde, assim como os previne.
