The benefits and advantages of the incorporation of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governing)-related policies have been discussed extensively. However, research articles focus not only on the socioecological aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) but also on the underlying effects on a corporation’s corporate financial performance (CFP). In this regard, the current study aims to analyze the impact of ESG parameters on corporations’ financial stability. A sample size of 691 companies in North American countries was investigated in order to test the hypothesis that ESG has an effect on the likelihood of a company going bankrupt using the Ohlson O-score. This is conducted using regression models and the Pearson correlation coefficient. Furthermore, a follow-up hypothesis on the relationship between firm size and ESG is also tested in order to evaluate a tendency of corporate growth through ESG-based sustainable development. The results of the study conclude that the governing pillar of ESG factors has the highest positive impact on corporations’ financial success. Furthermore, the analysis conducted in the study with its sample size confirms the hypothesis that larger firms tend to have higher ESG scores.
This paper discusses different schemes of the performance of passive solar heating of buildings. Based on the solution for heat conduction equation for active building constructions taking into account the influence of convective heat transfer and heat flux, incoming solar radiation, the ways of energy-saving facilities' operation is analyzed. It is shown that to increase the efficiency of such systems, an individual design should be performed taking into account the climatic features of the construction area, and the choice of rational combinatorics for the outer shell, such as movable shielding heat-protective device, and creating an air gap between the accumulating and heat-insulating layers. Based on the calculations, the energyactive area of the bearing course of buildings, protected from the outer side with the translucent barrier is revealed. The suitable thickness of the accumulation layer for recycling process of solar radiation is determined. The presented innovative technical solutions could help to enhance the efficiency of solar energy utilization and contribute to more active implementation of passive solar heating, expanding the scope of their territorial application.
The possibility of using alternative cold supply in the life support systems of buildings for the climatic conditions of the Central Black Earth region is considered. The results of calculations and selection of an absorption chiller with an array of solar collectors for an office building planned for construction in Voronezh are presented. The analysis of the efficiency of the heat collectors by the average efficiency showed that for the cold supply of the building taking into account the actual actinometric indicators of the region the use of flat devices was the most appropriate. Vacuum collectors for the solved task under the indicated climatic conditions, despite the generation of a high-potential thermal regime, upon reaching the maximum temperature of the coolant, are characterized by a decrease in efficiency as a result of significant losses to the environment. With justified priority use of flat devices capturing solar radiation, for a deeper extraction of alternative energy, an innovative design of devices of this class is proposed making it possible to increase their efficiency. The use of such devices will reduce their number in the array.
During implementation of the reforms of the health care financing system in the Russian Federation, new proportions of sources of financial support for this key area were determined, on which the level of health of the population depends, affecting the socio-economic indicators of the development of the state. The fundamental factors, on which depend the volume and sources of financing of health care in the region, have been analyzed in the article. The role of the regional budget as a source of health care financing in more detail on the example of the budget of the Irkutsk region has been considered. Trends and prospects for the development of the health care financing system in the region have been identified.
Anaerobic digestion, accompanied by methane liberation, is one of the priority ways of organic waste and sewage sludge disposal. Improving the reliability of biogas stations, including environmental reliability, can be achieved by using plants with high reliability indicators improved with further constructive improvement. For this purpose, reactors with gas holders additional function are considered and its advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Technical solutions are proposed to increase anaerobic processes stability and biogas accumulation. Solar energy using is assumed to maintain required thermal conditions and to avoid additional heating, necessary for heating the medium gas-holder floats in. An equation is obtained to make it possible to predict the fuel yield depending on organic waste residence time in a methane tank. The proposed function can be used to make amendments for all temperature regimes corresponding to bacteria’s vital activity conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
