Conventional methods using precoding in MIMO transmission generally need channel state information (CSI) at the transmitter. In this paper we consider a method where precoding weights are temporally varied. The method does not require the transmitter to obtain CSI. By combining the method with FEC and a block interleaver, it outperforms the existing MIMO transmission schemes without precoding. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations and clarify the effectiveness of the system quantitatively. Since the method does not require CSI at the transmitter, it is particularly effective where MIMO transmission is applied to broadcast-type wireless communication systems
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
