This research aimed to find out Google Classroom effectiveness, which was used to enhance students’ writing recount text for Senior High School and recognize students' writing performance. This research used a pre-experimental research design. The subject of this study is the tenth grade of senior high school at Western Surabaya. It involved 30 students as a sample of this study. In the process of data collection, the researcher used a pre-test, post-test, and questionnaire. The researcher analyzed the data using Wilcoxon Ranks Test to test the hypothesis. This study found the value of significance (2-tailed) was lower than the significance level (0.022 < 0.05), then the Ha was accepted. It means there was a significant value on students’ achievement of the writing performance of recount text by using Google Classroom. In addition, the result of the questionnaire indicates that the students’ responses are neutral; it means that the students do not feel difficult in the use of Google Classroom. However, it can be concluded that Google Classroom significantly affects students’ writing performance and helps them finish and collect the assignment without any bound by time and space. Further, based on the data obtained, which analyzed through Brown's theory, the students' writing performance is imitative and intensive. It means they are still positioning in the primary category.
Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membangun ekonomi kreatif melalui daur ulang sampah pada bank sampah masyarakat desa Weru Kab. Jombang. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa bank sampah masyarakat desa Weru Kab. Jombang memberdayakan masyarakat sekitar dengan mengadakan kegiatan daur ulang sampah rumah tangga yang memiliki nilai tambah menjadi yang bernilai ekonomis. Dimana tahapan pemberdayaan yang berlaku di bank sampah masyarakat desa Weru Kab. Jombang meliputi penyadaran, pengorganisasian, kaderisasi, dukungan teknis dan pengelolaan sistem. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berkontribusi pada model pengelolaan bank sampah yang telah berhasil dalam mewujudkan model ekonomi kreatif masyarakat desa dengan sistem bank sampah yang memiliki implikasi secara ekonomis bagi masyarakat sekitar yang berdampak sebagai efek domino kondisi pandemik covid-19 secara ekonomi. Dampak ekonomi yang ditimbulkan akibat keberadaan bank sampah desa Weru Kab. Jombang yakni terciptanya gerakan ekonomi kreatif melalui pemanfaatan sampah rumah tangga.
Vocabulary is a basic thing that children should know before they learn English because vocabulary will make it easier to understand or master English. In Kalijaten, children tend not to be able to master English and they also have difficulty learning vocabulary. So to help with this the researcer have implemented a method using “engklek” to help improve children's vocabulary in Kalijaten Village. Using these traditional learning media can make it easier for children to improve their vocabulary skills and they will not get bored easily so the possibility of improving the vocabulary can increase. The purpose of holding vocabulary learning through the game “engklek” is to make it easier for children in Kalijaten village to master vocabulary easily. The method used for research is qualitative by collecting data by means of observation to children in Kalijaten village and it also takes 10 days, where the first and second days of surveying the place and collecting data on children in Kalijaten village and the following day the game was held. The place used to research this PKM is in the village of Kalijaten, Taman Subdistrict, Sidoarjo Regency. The length of observation used was two days when the author did practice in the field. The materials used are white chalk, gaco, laminating paper and the vocabulary that has been given. The results have shown that 70% of the children in Kalijaten village have low proficiency in mastering English, especially in vocabulary and 20% of Kalijaten children have a standard ability in mastering English, especially in vocabulary, and 10% of children in Kalijaten village have high skills in mastering vocabulary.
This research aims to find out types of tenses used in Finding Nemo movie script and the relevance to 2013 curriculum for teaching tenses to junior high school students. The 2013 curriculum is used as the standard guideline to determine the sentences’ appropriateness. This study was a descriptive qualitative method by employing content analysis technique to analyze the data. The data resources were documented from the script movie and 2013 English curriculum. The findings are presented in the form ofthe sentences that were analyzed and classified into six types of tenses. These six tenses matched for the curriculum, they were Simple Present Tense, Simple Past Tense, Present Continuous Tense, Past Continuous Tense, Present Perfect Tense, and Present Future Tense.The result indicated there was a high frequency of the tenses in the sentences with total number 96%.This study concluded that Finding Nemomovie script can be used as supporting material by English teachers to teach tenses for junior high school students, particularly Simple Present Tense which is the most used tense in the movie.
This study investigates the implementation of peer feedback in writing class. The participants were EFL students in a private university in Surabaya who took essay writing subject in academic year 2020-2021. This study found that the implementation of peer feedback was perceived as a positive activity for writing performance. Students preferred peer feedback because of several reasons, such as: to detect writing problems, to write better in terms of grammar, to analyze writing and paragraph development and spelling. Most students wrote that peer feedback refers to providing comments and suggestions rather than judging each other work. They found that from several aspects of writing, grammar is the most important aspect that must be corrected among other. They confirmed that grammar is vital because it decides on how formal the writing should be and it is a crucial aspect for ensuring the writer’s point is getting across. Another aspect is paragraph development. It is another fundamental aspect of writing since it links the writer’s ideas to the readers. Furthermore, students affirmed that peer feedback can be used as a means to re-conceptualize students’ thinking. This is a meaningful contribution for students critical thinking and to improve autonomy. Therefore, peer feedback facilitates students wider opportunity to develop writing which further lead to self-determination learner.
