Plantas de uso teraPêutico na comunidade rural Bezerro morto, são João da canaBrava, Piauí, Brasil resumo -A Etnobotânica é um ramo da ciência bastante estudado, na perspectiva do entendimento da inter-relação entre plantas e pessoas de culturas diversas. Objetivou-se levantar as espécies de uso terapêutico na comunidade rural Bezerro Morto, município de São João da Canabrava, avaliando-se a importância, manipulação dos fitoterápicos, indicações de uso, versatilidade locais, bem como evidências da hipótese da diversificação, além da identificação de modelos de compartilhamento de conhecimentos tradicionais. Realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas com 24 informantes-chaves, em 41 excursões, e paralelamente turnês-guiada para coleta das plantas, com avaliação da Importância Relativa (IR) e Valor de Uso (VU) potencial e atual para espécies citadas. Identificaram-se 25 espécies, distribuídas em 23 gêneros, 18 famílias botânicas, que obtiveram 34 indicações terapêuticas, sendo a maioria de espécies exóticas. Phyllanthus niruri L. apresentou maior IR (2,00), enquanto o maior VU atual foi de Lippia alba (Mill.) N. E. Br. ex P. Wilson (0,71). Quanto ao VU potencial , Aloe vera (L.) Burm. f. e P. niruri L. obtiveram o valor de 0,08. As maiores indicações das plantas foram para o sistema digestório (24) e respiratório (18), destacando-se má digestão (12) e gripe (15). Prevaleceu o modelo vertical de repasse dos saberes tradicionais, apesar dos intercâmbios interculturais. O pequeno número de espécies ocorre devido ao acúmulo de conhecimento, em que as plantas exóticas incrementam o acervo de conhecimentos e de possibilidades de tratamentos, não havendo erosão ou aculturação, porém a hipótese da diversificação fica evidenciada.
