Inspired by our previous work, we herein demonstrate a one‐pot method to obtain thiophenes by directly recurring to the thiolation and deoxygenation of Lawesson's reagent and using succinic anhydrides as substrates, where 35 examples are displayed. The synthesis has several desirable features, such as a one‐pot protocol, easily available materials, excellent functional group tolerance, and absence of metal. The synthetic strategy provides a concise and efficient method for the construction of diverse thiophenes.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
