Resume Cet article porte sur les critiques d’une enquête statistique sur les violences de genre subies par les lesbiennes, gays, bisexuel·le·s et trans ( LGBT ). Au cours de la collecte et dans le questionnaire, des répondant·e·s ont jugé l’enregistrement du genre et de la sexualité problématique, en particulier lorsque ces personnes refusaient de se définir comme femme ou homme, bisexuelle ou homosexuelle, ou se disaient « non-binaires ». Minoritaires, ces critiques ont l’intérêt de mettre en cause le cadre de cette enquête sur les violences, elle-même dénoncée comme violente. L’article distingue deux registres de critique, l’un se donnant pour but la reconnaissance d’identifications minoritaires, l’autre questionnant la catégorisation en tant que telle. Les répondant·e·s critiques sont plus jeunes, plus souvent des femmes, s’identifient plus souvent comme bisexuel·le·s et sont parfois en situation de déclassement. Les critiques peuvent être conçues comme l’expression d’une indétermination à la fois vécue et revendiquée, elles sont portées par des personnes d’autant plus disposées à refuser les assignations dominantes du genre et de la sexualité que celles-ci sont pour elles moins pertinentes et moins pesantes.
En France, 0,9 % des femmes et 0,6 % des hommes se déclarent bisexuels. La majorité d’entre euxont eu des pratiques sexuelles avec des personnes des deux sexes (89 % des hommes et 76 % des femmes), et une grande partie se déclare attirée par l’autre sexe plus que par le même sexe (58 % des femmes et 47 % des hommes). Se dire bisexuel ne signifie donc pas nécessairement une attirance indifférenciée pour les deux sexes. L’identification bisexuelle recouvre une sexualité et une conjugalité plus souvent tournées vers l’autre sexe. Près de la moitié des femmes bisexuelles ont moins de 30 ans, tandis que les hommes bisexuels sont en revanche plutôt âgés ; les unes comme les autres sont nombreux à ne pas être en couple.
