ABSTRACTObjectives: To determine the prevalence of latent Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection among groups of hospital workers. Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional, retrospective, quantitative-based clinical study conducted at the Penitentiary Hospital of the city of São Paulo. To obtain the information, a questionnaire was applied with socio-demographic data, occupational habits (smoking and alcoholism); contact with patients with tuberculosis (TB), use of personal protective equipment. The tuberculin test was applied by a trained professional, evaluated after 48 hours, the result of the test was based on Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) negative cut-off points ≤ 10 mm and TST positive ≥ 10 mm. Results: 101 professionals (nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists) participated, with a sample loss of 66 workers. It was obtained a negative test prevalence in 69.2%, while the positive test was 30.5%. The presence of BCG scar was the only variable that showed a significant difference 1 Enfermeira.
