Purpose -The purpose of this study is to investigate empirically the impacts of outsourcing, and to examine the relationship between the outsourcing process and organizational performance in hotels. Design/methodology/approach -Data for the study were obtained from 80 hotels in the city of Antalya in Turkey through questionnaires. A paired-sample t test, and correlation and regression analyses were used to analyse the data. Findings -The analyses provide strong support for the impacts of outsourcing on organizational performance. Cooperation with a vendor has led to significant improvement in organizational effectiveness, productivity, profitability, quality, continuous improvement, quality of work life, and social responsibility levels. Hotel managers think that organizational performance has increased after outsourcing.Research limitations/implications -The most significant limitation of this study is the impact of outsourcing on organizational performance relying on perceived results rather than direct measures for measurable dimensions. In future research, financial metrics must be used to provide more objective evaluations of a hotel's outsourcing impact on the dimensions of profitability and productivity. Practical implications -The results indicate that outsourcing is very important for organizational performance. Also, the effectiveness of the outsourcing process significantly affects organizational performance. If the outsourcing process is planned and implemented effectively, the required results can be achieved in terms of organizational performance. Originality/value -Little has been found in the literature on the impact of outsourcing in hotels. This paper presents new data and empirical insights into the relationship between outsourcing and organizational performance in hotels in Turkey.
The hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) system, created to prevent disease hazards caused by food and to provide food safety, has gained increasing importance in food and beverage businesses (FBBs). This part of the food industry can benefit at economic and human levels from the establishment and the effective management of such a system.The contribution first reviews the concepts and explains the methodology underlying the HACCP system. The different stages necessary to establish an efficient HACCP system in FBBs are outlined. In the concluding part, an exemplary implementation of the system in a fast food business is described.
This study aims to examine the relationship between cultural distance and expatriate burnout and to reveal the moderating effect of cultural intelligence in this relationship. No study has been found to examine the relationship between cultural distance and expatriate burnout and the effect of cultural intelligence on this relationship. This study will fill this gap in the literature. Through questionnaires, data were collected from hotels, universities, and logistics, construction, architecture, aviation, and tourism companies in different parts of the world. Three hundred sixty-three questionnaires were analyzed. According to the findings of the study, as the distance between the native cultures of expatriates assigned to foreign missions and the culture of the host country increases, their level of burnout also increases. Moreover, it was identified that the effect of cultural distance on expatriate burnout is lower in expatriates with high cultural intelligence and vice versa in expatriates with low cultural intelligence.

İstismarcı yönetim davranışlarının en önemli etkilerinden biri, astların tükenmişlik yaşamaları olup, bu da hem bireysel hem de örgütsel açıdan birçok olumsuz sonucun ortaya çıkmasına neden olmaktadır. Öte yandan istismarcı yönetimin tükenmişlik üzerindeki etkisini artıran ya da azaltan çeşitli değişkenler de söz konusudur. Çalışmamızda bu değişkenlerden, lider-üye etkileşimi ve güç mesafesi dikkate alınmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, güç mesafesi ve lider-üye etkileşiminin, istismarcı yönetim ve tükenmişlik ilişkisi üzerindeki düzenleyici etkisini ortaya koymaktır. Bu kapsamda, istismarcı yönetim, lider-üye etkileşimi, güç mesafesi ve tükenmişlik ölçeklerini kapsayan bir anket formu oluşturulmuştur. Anketler, kolayda örnekleme yöntemi ile Bandırma'da faaliyet gösteren ve kamuya ait olan bir fabrikada 02-15 Mayıs 2017 tarihleri arasında uygulanmıştır. Ankete 363 işgören katılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, istismarcı yönetimin tükenmişliği artırıcı yönde bir etkiye sahip olduğunu ve lider-üye etkileşimi ile güç mesafesinin de bu ilişkide düzenleyici bir rol oynadığını göstermektedir.
