Este trabalho teve como objetivo espacializar as escolas públicas localizadas na área urbana de Jataí (GO) identificando suas posições, áreas de abrangência e atendimento à demanda de alunos. Realizou-se levantamento de dados junto às Secretarias Municipal e Estadual de Educação, considerando todas as escolas públicas urbanas, espacializando-as no mapa urbano, analisando a distribuição e comparando com a quantidade de população por setores censitá-rios (IBGE, 2010). Ao realizar a espacialização foi possível identificar áreas com número de escolas reduzidas e que carecem de novas instituições públicas ou de complementação dos níveis de ensino, além de identificar a necessidade de instituições de ensino nos setores novos e nas áreas de expansão da cidade. Spatialization of institutions of public education in Jataí (Goiás state): some demands Abstract:This study aimed to spatialise public schools located in the urban area of Jataí City (Goias State, Brazil), identifying their positions, areas of coverage and efficiency as the demand of students. Data were collected at the Municipal and State Department of Education considering all urban public schools, which were spatialized in the urban map, analyzing distribution and compared to population by census tracts (IBGE, 2010). They identified areas with few schools that lack of new public institutions, or completion of educational levels, and identify the need for educational institutions in the new sectors and areas of expansion of the city.
