Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a compreensão dos profissionais atuantes no design de interiores acerca dos conceitos de sustentabilidade e Materiais Ambientalmente Preferíveis (MAP), além de identificar fatores que influenciam a adoção desses materiais pelos próprios. Para tanto, aplicou-se um questionário aos profissionais que atuam em projetos de design de interiores em Belo Horizonte – MG, presencialmente (no evento CASACOR Minas Gerais 2019) e online. A partir dos resultados do questionário, procedeu-se com uma análise qualitativa e quantitativa dos dados, auxiliada por estatísticas que descrevem a conduta geral do comportamento observado da realidade. A aplicação de questionários aos profissionais de interiores demonstrou uma percepção de baixa oferta de materiais ambientalmente preferíveis no mercado, além de uma baixa divulgação dos mesmos e de um conhecimento técnico insuficiente por parte dos vendedores das lojas as quais frequentam. Também foi observado que a maioria dos respondentes indicaram ser importante a sustentabilidade para o planeta, porém, atribuíram uma importância menor quando questionados às preocupações concernentes à própria área, e um nível ainda menor de utilização de MAP em seus projetos. A análise da relação entre as variáveis, realizada por intermédio da correlação de Spearman, permitiu identificar que a aplicação de MAP teve associação significativa com a familiaridade com conceitos de sustentabilidade, importância atribuída aos conceitos, a aplicação dos conceitos em projetos, a quantidade de informações requisitadas e o montante de informações disponíveis sobre os materiais.
