Resumen: Los humedales son considerados sistemas biológicos dinámicos y productivos, debido a que el agua se encarga de producir un ambiente mixto. Las algas tienen un rol importante desde los servicios ecosistémicos que desarrollan, entre ellos los de soporte y regulación, vinculados a la producción primaria, al ciclaje de nutrientes, a la producción de oxígeno atmosférico y a la purificación del agua. El objetivo de este trabajo fue aportar información respecto a la riqueza y composición de especies de la ficoflora del departamento de Ñeembucú. Para ello se tomaron muestras de agua en los distritos Tacuaras y Villa Franca, del departamento de Ñeembucú -Paraguay, en ocho campañas de muestreo, durante los meses de octubre de 2020 a julio de 2021. Se colectaron 32 muestras, incluyendo tomas directas de agua y muestras filtradas con red de plancton provenientes de cuerpos de agua temporales y permanentes, conservadas en lugol acético para su posterior observación. Para el recuento e identificación de las algas se utilizó el método de sedimentación de Utermölh. Se encontraron 185 especies de algas distribuidas en siete phylum: Bacillariophyta (63 especies), Charophyta (53 especies), Chlorophyta (41 especies), Cryptophyta (una especie), Cyanophyta (ocho especies), Euglenophyta (17 especies), y Ochrophyta (dos especies). La mayoría de las especies identificadas corresponden a medios dulceacuícolas oligotróficos. Este trabajo representa un aporte para aumentar el conocimiento de la diversidad algal del departamento de Ñeembucú.
