Water-soluble, conformationally-immobilized calix[4]arenes with cone and 1.3-alternate conformations (cone-I and 1.3-alternate-l , respectively) have been synthesized. In aqueous solution cone-I, with a cone-shaped surface, aggregated into micelles with 20-40 8, diameter whereas 1.3alternate-1, with a cylindrical surface, could not form such aggregates for concentrations up to 0.01 0 mol dm-3.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
