In the title compound, C28H24O4, the benzoyl groups at the 1- and 8-positions of the naphthalene ring system are aligned almost antiparallel, and the benzene rings make a dihedral angle of 20.03 (7)°. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings and the naphthalene ring system are 68.42 (5) and 71.69 (5)°. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked via C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [100].
In the title molecule, C23H18O3, the dihedral angle between the two naphthalene ring systems is 80.44 (4)°. The mean plane of the bridging carbonyl C—C(=O)—C group makes a torsion angle of −68.55 (17)° with the naphthalene system of the 2,7-dimethoxynaphthalene unit and a torsion angle of −9.01 (19)° with the naphthalene ring system of the naphthoyl group. In the crystal, a weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs between the carbonyl O atom and an H atom of the naphthalene ring in the 2,7-dimethoxynaphthalene unit of a symmetry-related molecule.
The asymmetric unit of the title compound contains two independent molecules (A and B). In the crystal, molecules of each conformer make a face-to-face type dimeric molecular aggregate with two pairs of C—H⋯π hydrogen bonds (A) or a pair of (sp
2)C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds (B). The dimeric molecular aggregates composed of same conformers are linked to each other into a chain through π–π stacking interactions (A) or a pair of C—H⋯π hydrogen bonds (B) along the b axis. The chains are aligned along the c axis by weak van der Waals interactions or (sp
2)C—H⋯O=O hydrogen bonds, and they are alternately stacked along the a axis.
The molecule of the title compound, C34H24O4, possesses crystallographically imposed twofold C
2 symmetry. The two 2-naphthoyl groups at the 1- and 8-positions of the central naphthalene ring are aligned almost antiparallel [5.21 (5)°]. The dihedral angle between the central 2,7-dimethoxynaphthalene unit and the terminal naphthyl groups is 75.13 (4)°. In the crystal, weak C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions [centroid–centroid and interplanar distances are 3.6486 (8) and 3.3734 (5) Å, respectively] are observed.
In the title compound, C23H18O3, the dihedral angle between the two naphthalene ring systems is 78.02 (3)°. The bridging carbonyl C—C(=O)—C plane makes a dihedral angle of 70.56 (5)° with the naphthalene ring system in the 2,7-dimethoxynaphthalene moiety and a dihedral angle of 11.53 (5)° with the naphthalene ring system in the naphthoyl group. In the crystal, adjacent molecules are linked via C—H⋯π interactions, forming chains along [010].
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
