Chemical transport of contaminant dissolved into underground water in heterogeneous media has received great amount of attention, especially in the study of safety assesment for a high level nuclear waste disposal site. In general, it is found difficult to obtain field-scale detailed three dimensional map of hydraulic conductivity and other key hydrologic parameters.Consequently, the spatial heterogeneity has to be modeled with stochastic parameters based on sparse spatial measurements. On the other hand, a major feature of transport in heterogeneous domain is found to be anomalous by the recent examination of field data. In the present study, we developed a analysis method, in which microscopic dispersion caused by sand particle is considered as well as macroscopic dispersion due to the material heterogeneity, by conbining Continuous Time Random Walk technique, stochastic finite element method, and stream line method.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
