日臨外会誌 81(1) ,7-13,2020 ComprehensiveSurgeryforCommunityMedicine 1) ,DepartmentofGastroenterologicalandPediatricSurgery 2) ,OitaUniversity Objective:We examined factors related to "awareness of a physician shortage" via a questionnaire administeredtosurgeonsinOitaPrefectureandcomparedthemwithpreviousquestionnaireresultsfrom 2010todeterminewhethertheperceptionsofaphysicianshortagehadimproved. Method:WeconductedaquestionnairesurveywithsurgeonsinOitaPrefecture. Results:Oftheresponses,171werevalid,witharesponserateof82% .Ofthevalidresponses,131 surgeons(76.7%)wereawareofaphysicianshortage,almostidenticaltothe77%ratein2010,andthey felt that the physician shortage had not improved. Multivariate analysis of the factors contributing to "awarenessofaphysicianshortage"showedfactorssuchas"inchargeofmorethan11inpatients,""more thansevenmeetingspermonth,""morethanfivehoursperweekdedicatedtohobbies,""havingadegree," and"goodcommunication"toberelatedto"awarenessofaphysicianshortage." Conclusion:ManysurgeonsinOitaPrefecturecontinuetoperceiveashortageofphysicians.Inparticular,surgeonsinchargeofmanyinpatientsareacutelyawareofthisshortage.However,theyappear tobecopingwiththepresentphysicianshortagethroughgoodinformationsharing.
