This study statistically examined the relationships between the motion of a tropical cyclone (TC) and its ambient flow, stratifining the TC with reference to the longest radius (LR) and maximum sustained wind (MSW). TC motion, MSW, and LR were derived from the best track datasets compiled by the Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) Tokyo -Typhoon Center. The environmental flow was estimated by averaging reanalyzed wind data (JRA25/JCDAS) between 1000 to 300 hPa over areas within a radius of 300, 400, and 500 km from the TC center. It was found that TCs with larger LRs or more intense MSWs are more likely to move to the northeast relative to the ambient wind. This preference for northeastward migration was confirmed when only TCs in the subtropical zone (20°N−30°N) were sampled. The bias of northeastward migration was found to be robust when components with wavelengths less than about 12° latitude-longitude were filtered from the total environmental wind field.(Citation: Yasunaga, K., T. Lupus anticoagulant (LA) is defined as an autoantibody that inhibits phospholipid-dependent blood coagulation, without suppressing individual blood coagulation factors. We encountered a LApositive patient who needed surgical treatment. The patient was a 32-year-old woman who came to our hospital because of right cheek swelling. A right buccal abscess due to 7 6 1 periapical periodontitis was diagnosed on the basis of the clinical manifestations and radiographic findings. The activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) was remarkably prolonged to 65.5 seconds. The blood platelet count, other peripheral blood variables, and chemical data were within the normal range. After performing the cross mixing test and rarefaction prothrombin time (PT) test, the patient was found to be LA positive. She had no autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, which frequently accompanies LA, and there was no history of drugs that could induce LA. Thrombosis or thrombocytopenia occur frequently in LA-positive patients. Therefore, we managed her condition during the perioperative period taking this problem into consideration. APTT normalized, and LA became negative after surgery. The transient LA positivity in our case was attributed to infection.Department of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Tenri Hospital (Chief: Fumio Kinoshita)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
