Social networking has revolutionized the use of conventional web and has converted World Wide Web into the social web as users can generate their own content. This change has been possible due to social web platforms like forums, wikis, and blogs. Blogs are more commonly being used as a form of virtual communication to express an opinion about an event, product or experience and can reach a large audience. Users can influence others to buy a product, have certain political or social views, etc. Therefore, identifying the most influential bloggers has become very significant as this can help us in the fields of commerce, advertisement and product knowledge searching. Existing approaches consider some basic features, but lack to consider some other features like the importance of the blog on which the post has been created. This paper presents a new metric, MIIB (Metric for Identification of Influential Bloggers), based on various features of bloggers’ productivity and popularity. Productivity refers to bloggers’ blogging activity and popularity measures bloggers’ influence in the blogging community. The novel module of BlogRank depicts the importance of blog sites where bloggers create their posts. The MIIB has been evaluated against the standard model and existing metrics for finding the influential bloggers using dataset from the real-world blogosphere. The obtained results confirm that the MIIB is able to find the most influential bloggers in a more effective manner.
The emergence of senor node architecture with its advance capabilities to control the different hardware units and its enhancements in low power and affordable computational devices has made sensor networks from dream to reality. Sensor networks are deployed in widespread targeted areas where they can work for many years and can sense the environment behavior and its different variables without any need to externally charge their installed batteries, the security in sensor networks has become most important aspect along with low power, as the sensors are unattended so there is more possibility of attack in WSN than usual computer networks. Data aggregation security is an important task as if some false node injects a highly odd data values it will highly effect the whole aggregation process. The paper reviews the need of security for data aggregation and propose an architecture which eliminates the false values injection as well as it provides end to end reliability and data freshness, the architecture is also energy optimized.
The social Web provides opportunities for the public to have social interactions and online discussions. A large number of online users using the social web sites create a high volume of data. This leads to the emergence of Big Data, which focuses on computational analysis of data to reveal patterns, and associations relating to human interactions. Such analyses have vast applications in various fields such as understanding human behaviors, studying culture influence, and promoting online marketing. The blogs are one of the social web channels that offer a way to discuss various topics. Finding the top bloggers has been a major research problem in the research domain of the social web and big data. Various models and metrics have been proposed to find important blog users in the blogosphere community. In this work, first find the sentiment of blog posts, then we find the active and influential bloggers. Then, we compute various measures to explore the correlation between the sentiment and active as well as bloggers who have impact on other bloggers in online communities. Data computed using the real world blog data reveal that the sentiment is an important factor and should be considered as a feature for finding top bloggers. Sentiment analysis helps to understand how it affects human behaviors.
