The dehydration and dehydrogenation of sec-butanol were carried out on zinc phosphate catalyst. The catalyst was found to show a very high selectivity for the dehydrogenation, when calcined at 650°C, though it showed a high selectivity for the dehydration when calcined at 300°C. The active sites for the dehydrogenation were confirmed to be basic sites by a poisoning experiment.
Although boron phosphate calcined in air at 1173 K did not show any catalytic activity for the isomerization and oligomerization of cis-2-butene at 298 K, boron phosphate evacuated at 1173 K catalyzed the oligomerization without any detectable formation of 1-butene at 273 K.
P2O5–CaO was prepared and its acidic and basic properties were studied. It was found that P2O5–CaO (0.1 ≤P2O5/CaO ≤ 0.6) had both acidic and basic properties. The maximum strength Ho of acid site and that of base site for P2O5–CaO (mole ratio : 0.2) were 1.5 and 17.2 respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
