Parutubana ulbomuculutu, a new species from NE. Brazil (Alagoas State), is described and illustrated. The new species is closely related to El vittifacies (Signoret) (SE. Brazil) and t? webbi Cavichioli (NE. Brazil), from both of which it can be distinguished mainly by the male genital characteristics. Taxonomic notes comparing the new taxon with the other six known species of the South American genus Paratubanu Young are given. A key to males of the seven species is included. Data on the known distribution of these species, including a map, are also provided. The genus Paratubanu is newly recorded from Alagoas State.
