Wir beschreiben eine ungewöhnliche tumoröse Veränderung der Nabelschnur, die sonographisch zu Problemen in der differenzialdiagnostischen Abschätzung führte. Die Veränderung, die sich pathologisch als ein Angiomyxom der Nabelschnur herausstellte, entwickelte sich im Bereich beider Nabelschnurarterien und führte zu deren Kompression. Das Angiomyxom ist ein Hamartom der Nabelschnur, das sich pathogenetisch aufgrund einer fehlerhaften Vaskularisation der sich entwickelnden Nabelschnurgefäûe in der Fetalperiode entwickelt. Das Schwangerschaftsmanagement ist nicht klar definiert. Differenzialdiagnostisch abzugrenzen sind im Falle intrauteriner zystischer Läsionen Mehrlingsgraviditäten ebenso wie Hygrome, Chorangiome, eine Omphalozele, ein kindlicher Hydrozephalus oder Hämatome. Eine erhöhte Expression von angiogenen Wachstumsfaktoren lieû sich im Hamartom nicht nachweisen.
