Este trabalho objetiva, através de um caso clínico, demonstrar a importância da reconstrução protética em pacientes mutilados de face, com perda do pavilhão auricular. Trata- se de um paciente de 47 anos, masculino, que procurou o Serviço de Prótese Bucomaxilofacial da Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade Federal da Bahia, queixando-se de falta do pavilhão auricular esquerdo devido a trauma por acidente automobilístico, que resultou na perda total da orelha. Ao exame físico foi detectado bom estado de saúde geral. Após exame clínico/anamnésico, foi planeada a confeção de uma prótese auricular em resina acrílica retida por adesivo. Pôde-se concluir que reabilitar uma área perdida na face é desafiador, principalmente quando se tem de devolver tanto a parte anatómica quanto a parte psicológica. Contudo, apesar das divergências de técnicas e materiais contidas na literatura, um planeamento bem executado oferece resultados satisfatórios e devolve a harmonia facial do indivíduo.
