Abstract-An UWB signal was designed and generated using a zero order digital to analog converter. An efficiency measure of filling the FCC spectral mask is developed and optimized for various choices of digital-to-analog converter parameters and waveform duration. The proposed optimization technique takes into account filtering effects in the digital-to-analog converter as well as a measured antenna transfer function characteristic.
Directional antennas are a means of increasing the capacity of mobile ad hoc wireless networks. A model for evaluating the potential benefits of directional networking is formulated. A number of case studies are discussed. Conditions under which directional antennas should increase the capacity of a network are summarized. Other conditions, under which the introduction of directional antennas necessarily degrades performance, are also summarized. Additional problems which the network layer must solve in order to realize the benefits of directional networking are considered.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
