Corrosion control of materials of construction is a critical component of successful Ocean engineering. Premature materials failures represent both financial losses as well as the potential for adverse environmental impact with some ocean structures. The functional and structural integrity of these ocean structures can be greatly enhanced by t h e application of existing corrosion technology. Recent developments in this technology have permitted the corrosion engineer to develop even more relevant data on materials' durability in the oceans. This paper summarizes some of these developments in the context of engineering requirements for ocean structures.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
