As nascentes são mananciais importantes para a dinâmica dos ecossistemas e embora suas águas sejam geralmente consideradas puras, estas podem estar contaminadas, tornando-se um risco à saúde humana. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade da água de 22 nascentes no perímetro urbano do município de Divinópolis – MG, por meio da análise dos parâmetros físico-químicos temperatura, pH, turbidez e oxigênio dissolvido e ainda, análises microbiológicas - coliformes totais e termotolerantes (Escherichia coli). Dentre as nascentes avaliadas, duas encontravam-se secas e outras duas não apresentavam condições para a realização da coleta. Os resultados mostraram pH com valores entre 5,46 e 6,9, concentrações de oxigênio dissolvido entre 2,7 e 9,1 ml/L e turbidez apresentando valores entre 1 e 155 NTU. Foi identificada presença de coliformes totais em 18 nascentes e E. coli em 15 do total de nascentes analisadas. Os dados mostraram um quadro generalizado de degradação da qualidade da água dos mananciais estudados, sendo de fundamental importância o monitoramento periódico da água daquelas fontes hídricas, pois tais informações forneceriam uma base sólida de dados para elaboração de planos de ação e programas de educação ambiental.
