The article is devoted to the issues of the structure of deep submerged zones and oil and gas potential of Terek-Sunzhensk folded zone. Information on the study history of the region under consideration by deep drilling, CDP seismic reflection method and other geological and geophysical methods is presented in the article. Besides, the modern structure of the basement and sedimentary cover of Terek-Caspian trough is described. The main prerequisites for the deep genesis of oil are listed with an assessment of oil and gas potential of the studied area.
The article analyzes information on oil and gas deposits obtained by seismic exploration, geological and geophysical data compilation and reinterpretation for the western part of the Terek-Caspian trough. The tabulated data on morphological parameters (linear dimensions, amplitudes) of local structures have been collected for several years. Differences in the efficiency of geological exploration were identified (geological features of the structure, topography, deep and surface seismic and geological features). The causes of low efficiency of geological exploration in some areas (complexity of the structure, seismic conditions, a reduced size of geological objects and disregard of the disjunctive block structure) were identified. Recommendations for geological prospecting and exploration of oil and gas deposits were provided.
The paper is devoted to one of the largest deposits of the North Caucasus, i.e. Starogroznenskoye field. There are identified the main development stages of this field, i.e. well production, development of the Miocene and Mesozoic deposits, and the current stage. Well production continued almost until the end of the 19th century. At the Miocene stage, the production was carried out from thrust and subthrust sand formations of Karagan and Chokrak. The paper also mentions the experimental adit on Mamakayevskaya gill. Which was headed by mining engineers A.A. Klushin and A.E. Yeronin. The beginning of the Mesozoic stage dates to the end of the 1940s. The main production was associated with the Upper Cretaceous sediments. At the end, an assessment of the current state of the structure of proven reserves is given. In conclusion, an assessment of the opportunities aimed at further development of the field associated with the additional exploration and additional development of the Miocene and Lower Cretaceous deposits is given.
The article shows the orography of the Shansky and Makhis-Magalinsky high-mountain massifs, selected in the geomorphological zoning scheme with the rank of subdistricts corresponding to the fourth-order morphostructures. Geomorphological processes, types of relief, the latest tectonic movements and glaciation of mountain ranges are characterized.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
