The absolute cross section of the photodisintegration of deuterium was measured at 2754 keV using an absorptive method by passing the photons through 2-m-long absorbers of H20 and 020. The measured value is 1456+45 pb. The result is compared with calculations that include contributions from meson-exchange currents and isobar configurations.

The dose distribution surrounding uniform cylinders of 32P has been calculated in order to obtain information relevant to the utilization of radioactive stents. The radiological impact on two major components of vascular tissue, smooth muscle, and endothelial cells is also considered.

A system for the routine measurement of the density of the os calcis is described. Measurements are made of the number of photons scattered by the bone from a 153Sm photon beam. The first results from human subjects are presented.
