An on‐board burst‐mode modem for coherent processing of a QPSK signal at 120 Mb/s is realized with small, low mass and low power consumption. This paper presents the hardware configuration and the various measured test data including physical characteristics. The overall performance through an earth station modem is also presented.
Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) is under developing to launch in 2008 fiscal year. In this paper the main feature of the satellite bus system, subsystems and the development status of the bus system are presented.
The subject addressed here is the development of an FEC (Convolutional encodingNiterbi decoding) combined modem for DS-SSMA communication system aimed at the low bit rate satellite communication system. The developed modem has compact size and low power consumption, which have been accomplished with newly developed digital correlator VLSl and extensive use of digital signal processor (DSP). As the results of experimentation, w e obtain mean acquisition time of 220 msec and bit error rate of less than 1x 10-7 at the received IF U N ratio of -31 dB (BT=2). It is concluded that the developed modem is useful for low rate data transmission such as mobile satellite communication system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
