Die Dimethylchinoxaline (I) liefern bei der Kondensation mit Benzaldehyd (II) in Gegenwart von Borsäure bei 200 ‐ 210°C die Distyrylderivate (III), die sich mit Permanganat in Aceton zu den Dicarbonsäuren (IV) oxidieren lassen.
