As pressões socioculturais pelo corpo ideal podem ser maiores no meio esportivo principalmente os que idealizam o baixo peso corporal e supervalorizam a estética, gerando uma insatisfação corporal que conduz a comportamentos e práticas inadequadas de controle de peso. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a relação entre a imagem corporal e os sintomas de transtorno alimentar em bailarinos, sejam eles profissionais ou não. Foram utilizados como critérios de inclusão do estudo o ano de publicação, 2010 a 2018, sem restrição do idioma, a relação do título com outras modalidades de dança, praticantes de balé clássico, sejam eles profissionais ou não, ambos os sexos e o resumo dos trabalhos de acordo com a área de interesse, excluídos os estudos com objetivos, métodos ou resultados não claramente especificados, artigos que investigavam outras questões relacionadas aos praticantes de balé clássico e que não estivessem inseridos no objetivo da pesquisa. Após análise dos 65 artigos, apenas 25 foram selecionados para esta pesquisa e destes, apenas 12 fizeram parte da discussão do tema proposto. Devido ao rígido padrão estético da profissão, os bailarinos estão insatisfeitos com o seu corpo e desejam ser mais magros, mesmo apresentando o percentual de gordura corporal muito baixo. Cada modalidade esportiva exige uma dedicação dos seus praticantes, o que não poderia ser diferente com o balé clássico, arte que exige leveza, realização dos movimentos com perfeição e muito treinamento. Constatou-se neste estudo que o percentual de insatisfação com a imagem corporal é considerado elevado no grupo dos bailarinos.
