Introdução: as Práticas Integrativas e Complementares (PICs) são técnicas que buscam a prevenção de doenças e recuperação da saúde. Foram inseridas no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) em 2006, fortalecendo a integralidade de atenção. O uso dessas práticas pelo fisioterapeuta é regulamentado pelo Conselho Federal de Fisioterapia e Terapia Ocupacional (COFFITO) e aos poucos vem sendo utilizadas também na Atenção Básica. Apesar da crescente divulgação, há de pesquisa quanto à utilização dessas práticas pelo fisioterapeuta. Objetivo: analisar o uso das práticas e o conhecimento de fisioterapeutas atuantes quanto às PICs. Metodologia: estudo de abordagem qualitativa, desenvolvido na região Oeste de Santa Catarina com 10 fisioterapeutas. Resultados e Discussão: depois da análise dos dados, surgiram três categorias analíticas: conhecimento quanto as PICs: prática Complementar ao Tratamento Tradicional X Assistência Integral do Ser Humano; uso das PICs: entre os benefícios e necessidade de mudanças para ampliar o acesso dos pacientes; formação para o uso das PICs: necessidade de inclusão na graduação e ampliação da educação permanente. Considerações finais: as PICs mais utilizadas pelos entrevistados foram a auriculoterapia, a osteopatia e a acupuntura. O conhecimento está centrado na concepção de um tratamento complementar aos demais recursos da fisioterapia e uma abordagem integral que extrapola a visão do paciente segmentado.
