Introduction: Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is the new public health crisis rapidly threatening the world. A deeper understanding of these devastating lifetime experiences helps to develop a more complete picture of how holistic health may have been affected in survivors from pandemic. The objective of the study was to explore the lived experiences of COVID-19 survivors. Methods: A phenomenological qualitative research design was adopted following purposive sampling traced from the hospital record of Koshi Covid Hospital of Biratnagar, Province 1 Nepal. Based on principles of data saturation, ten covid survivors were interviewed following the interview guide. The obtained data were transcribed in reference to notes and tape recordings, and themes were generated. The data collection and analysis were carried out simultaneously, using thematic analysis phases of Gibson manually. Results: The study findings emerged five themes: key stakeholders in COVID-19 pandemic, mystery of COVID-19, social stigma and discrimination, mass media influence, and safety measures. Most (8/10) of the participants reported COVID-19 as mysterious disease with unknown cause and few (2/10) reported peculiar symptoms (something stuck in throat, presence of abscess in chest, etc). Seven of them faced stigmatizing responses from health care workers and most of them reported inadequate health counseling at health care institutions. Conclusions: COVID-19 survivors were scared of infecting their family and neighbors and of death related to infection. Interventions for breaking the chain of transmission were carried out, however, healthcare workers’ approach of care was inadequate along with stigma and discrimination. Adequate counseling is vital to address physical and psychological issues among survivors.

Stroke is a medical emergency also known as Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) or "brain attack". Nowadays, this health problem is increasing tremendously day by day in developing country like Nepal.This study follows with an objective to assess the knowledge on stroke among middle aged adult. A descriptive cross-sectional study was used to assess the level of knowledge on stroke among (40-65) years of aged group in a community of Ratuwamai, Morang. Non probability purposive sampling method was used to select respondents where sample size was 117. Semi-structured interview questionnaire was used for data collection and data was analyzed with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.The study showed that among 117 respondents, 62.1% were above 50 years (Mean±SD = 53.53±7.169), 32.9% had achieved secondary level of education, 97.4% gave correct response as stroke is a brain problem, similarly 100% of respondents reported high risk is above 45years of age, 91.5% identified hypertension leading to stroke, 96.6% thought that sudden onset of dizziness as warning signs of stroke. This study found that overall knowledge regarding stroke was average (65.8%). Relationship of ethnicity (p=0.045) and level of education(p=0.000)were found to be associated with level of knowledge. A widespread awareness program is required to improve the knowledge of community people regarding stroke, which in turn might improve the control of risk factors, early treatment and better outcomes.

Introduction: Organ transplantation is an effective therapy for end-stage organ failure. However, there is a large gap between the need for and the supply of donor organs. Nurses have a major role to play in tackling organ and tissue shortages. The main objective of the study was to assess the level of knowledge and attitude on organ donation among nursing students at Biratnagar. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study design among Post Basic Bachelor in Nursing (PBBN) students was carried out in Birat Health College, Biratnagar. A census method using a self-administered semi-structured questionnaire was used for the data collection in 113 respondents. Descriptive statistics i.e., mean, median and standard deviation was used to assess the level of knowledge. Inferential statistics i.e., Chi-square test was used to find out the association between level of knowledge and attitude on organ donation with selected demographic variables. The findings of the study showed that out of 113 respondents, the mean age of respondents was 24.41 years. Similarly, 32.7% of the respondents were from 1st year, 33.6% from 2nd year and 33.6% from 3rd year. More than half, (60%) of the respondents were Brahmin/Chhetri. Similarly, (68.1%) had heard about organ donation from colleagues. Among the studied respondents, (69.9%) had average knowledge of organ donation and almost all (99.1%) of respondents possessed a positive attitude on organ donation. Conclusion: The majority of the respondents had an average level of knowledge and a positive attitude regarding organ donation. The level of knowledge was associated with ethnicity rather than other socio-demographic variables. Keywords: Attitude, Knowledge, Nursing students, Organ Transplantation, Organ Donation.

Introduction: Spinal Anaesthesia (SA) is a form of regional anaesthesia involving injection of a local anaesthetic into the subarachnoid space. SA is directly related to nervous system, so its mismanagement may cause various complications hence, prevention and management of complication is a vital and complex aspect of critical nursing care. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the nurse’s knowledge on the management of patient receiving spinal anaesthesia. Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among nurses of Koshi Zonal Hospital of Province no. 1, Biratnagar, Nepal from May to June 2017. Non-probability purposive sampling method was used where self-administered questionnaire was administered among 67 working nurses in the hospital. Results: The majority of the respondents (77.6%) belonged to 20-30 years of age group, nearly half (44.8%) of the respondents had completed PCL nursing. Only 67.2% explained the meaning of anaesthesia, and 58.2% had knowledge on physiological changes after SA. Regarding ambulation and cause of backache, 29.9% had knowledge whereas only 20.9% had knowledge about management of post spinal backache. Respondents facing problem to manage the complication after SA was 13.4%. This study also found that the overall knowledge regarding SA was adequate among 80.6% respondents. Conclusion: Nurses as the key personnel in management and prevention of complication, the obtained result was below the desired competence level among working nurses as it is the vital aspect of critical nursing care.
