Para la población mexicana el maíz (Zea mays L.) tiene una gran importancia económica, social y cultural, por ello es importante implementar estrategias para producir maíz libre de agroquímicos persistentes y tóxicos para el medio ambiente. En el presente trabajo, se evaluó el uso del peróxido de hidrogeno (H2O2) como alternativa para potenciar el desarrollo de la plántula de maíz. Para el estudio se utilizaron dos concentraciones de 0.21%, 3% v/v de H2O2, respectivamente y una dosis de control, el estudio de los parámetros de tamaño de la planta, raíz, número de hojas, diámetro del tallo y contenido de clorofila se registraron por triplicado. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que con una concentración de 0.3% favorece el desarrollo del tamaño de raíz, el número de hojas y el contenido de clorofila, mientras que a una concentración de 0.21% solo se observó un engrosamiento en el tallo de la plántula. El uso del H2O2 en una buena alternativa para el desarrollo del cultivo de maíz y representa una alternativa que podría evitar el uso de agroquímicos en los cultivos.
