Wireless communication technologies ease the process of industrial and process automation. Data from the sensor nodes can be fed to the control system or can be used for analysis by a human counterpart using wireless technologies. Several wireless technologies have been developed and utilized for this purpose in the last decade. In this paper we take an opportunity to explore the potential of Bluetooth low energy (ble) as a communication technology for industrial and process automation. Texas instruments CC2540 is utilized for implementing a ble based system. The hardware is tested in metal enclosure with different antennas and varying transmitting power. Theoretically expected results are compared with the realistically obtained values.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
