In the 21st century, the printing industry as well as the IT industry has made rapid development. However, despite these technological advancement in the printing industry, it is still harmful for the environment, the state regulation is insufficient. Therefore, we studied the printability for the existing heat-set web inks and the newly created phenol-free eco-inks. This ink was made by reacting rosin and unsaturated dibasic acid and ester reactant, ester reactant was used instead of phenol. Printability test were used in the IGT printability tester. Experimental conditions, the temperature 22.7 ℃, humidity 57% under conditions of 0.6cc of ink supply, the print speed 1m/sec, pressures were set at 250N. As results of this study, we were able to get the following conclusions. The properties of phenol-free ink is the same as the existing inks. So we are thought to improve some characteristics such as dispersion, able to replace the existing ink.
Materials used for the inks in the printing industry is an important material following the paper. The composition of the ink is pigment and organic solvents. However, Ink is used in a variety of chemicals, they are classified as non-green. Therefore, rosin-modified phenolics manufactured by the reaction of phenol and formaldehyde can take the place of eco-phenol free resin and by experiment density, gloss, trapping, contrast and dot gain of printing has been studied as printability. The result of study can support that the properties of printing using eco-phenol free resin such as density, gloss, contrast and trapping is similar to existing ink. In the part of dot gain, the result is excellent. So we were thought to be able to improve some characteristics such as dispersion of black ink, that will be possible for the field applicability.
The lithographic process depends on a satisfactory ink-in-water emulsion being formed during printing and the speed of wet presses makes the choice of fountain solution vitally important as the ink and fount must react quickly to form a stable emulsion. Ink and water come into contact with each other on the rolls of the press and are forced together in the roll nips. The water is not soluble in the ink since it is slightly fat. Instead, an emulsion is formed, a heterogeneous mass consisting of small water drops mixed into the ink, if the water feed is too great. This emulsification can affect the properties of an offset ink and negatively affect the printability. So we investigated the effects of the emulsification of phenol free heat-set ink and existing heat-set ink on printed quality, such as amount of ink transfer, printed density, print-through and uniformity. We used Duke emulsification tester for the emulsification of inks, and used IGT printability tester for printed quality. The printed quality were measured by densitometer and were evaluated by the image analysis system. Compared to conventional printing ink, phenol-free ink showed better results of the printability at the emulsification.
The change of the thermal properties of exothermic and insulating materials with the mixing condition of raw materials which is the most important factor for exothermic & insulating materials was investigated by using the evaluation system of the thermal properties of exothermic and insulating materials. In this study, the effect of the thermal properties of the exothermic & insulating materials such as exothermic properties, endothermic properties, insulating properties, maximum temperature of molten metal, ignition time of exothermic & insulating materials and temperature recovery time on the mixing ratio of reductant and oxidant, types of reductant, and particle sizes of reductants was examined. It could be expected to design the mixing condition of raw materials for various exothermic and insulating materials.
