Three continuously growing lymphoblastoid cell lines were established from peripheral blood of 3 of 16 patients with Down's syndrome (DS). All these cultures revealed the presence of chromosome constitution of trisomy 21 and Epstein‐Barr virus (EBV) particles. Although EBV capsid antibody levels were generally higher in DS, the frequency of and period to cell line establishment were similar between DS patients and normal individuals.
