Background: Crohn's fistula-in-ano is a refractory disease in colorectal and anal surgery. Although autologous adiposederived stem cell (ADSC) has been used in the treatment of Crohn's fistula-in-ano because of its convenience, nonincision of normal tissue, good tolerance, repeatability, quick recovery, less pain, less damage to anal function, and high quality of life during the perioperative period, there are no reports of its use in China. This is the first clinical trial in China on the treatment of Crohn's fistula-in-ano with ADSC to evaluate its efficacy and safety. Methods: A total of 22 patients with Crohn's fistula-in-ano were enrolled in this study from January 2018 to October 2018 in the
Loss or reduced expression of PTEN protein occures commonly in tumorigenesis and progression of gastric carcinoma. It is suggested that PTEN can be an objective marker for pathologically biological behaviors of gastric carcinoma.
Though SRC and mucinous adenocarcinoma were both characterized by abundant mucus-secretion, they were quite different in morphology, ultrastructure, cell-functional differentiation and protein expression, indicating different mechanisms of carcinogenesis. We concluded that combining histological growth patterns, cell-functional differentiation type with tumor related markers might be significant in early diagnosis and prognosis assessment for SRC and mucinous adenocarcinoma of the stomach.
In this article, we aim to examine the novel effects of β‐sitosterol on murine experimental colitis. β‐Sitosterol significantly reduces the weight loss, colon length, and alleviated microscopic appearances of colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium. This compound also decreases the levels of TNF‐α, IL‐6, and IL‐1β in intestinal tissue of mice with experimental colitis in a concentration‐dependent manner. β‐Sitosterol treatment to intestinal epithelial cells significantly increases expression of antimicrobial peptides and reduces survival of intracellular Salmonella typhimurium. These results showed the multiple effects of β‐sitosterol against pathogenic bacteria for a novel approach to the treatment of colonic inflammation.
Age-related metabolic changes in the hippocampus of APP(Swe)/PS1(dE9) mice were measured with long echo-time in vivo (1)H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS). Thioflavine S staining and Nissl staining were used to characterize deposition of Aβ aggregates and neuronal degeneration in the transgenic animals, respectively. The results showed that the APP(Swe)/PS1(dE9) mice had significantly decreased hippocampal N-acetyl aspartate (NAA)/total creatine (tCr) level at 16 months of age, which was associated with degeneration of and intracellular deposition of thioflavine S-positive materials in hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons. The results of this study provide direct evidence showing association among Aβ pathology (intracellular deposition of thioflavine S-positive materials), neuronal degeneration, and metabolic changes observable with in vivo (1)H-MRS in the hippocampus of APP(Swe)/PS1(dE9) mice.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
