Lembar kerja siswa (LKS) selama ini masih bersifat tekstual sehingga siswa masih kesulitan memahai isi teks yang dipelajarinya. Untuk itu, diperlukan LKS berbasis kontekstual sehingga siswa diharapkan memahami materi dan tugas yang akan dikerjakannya karena siswa memiliki konsep awal tentang teks yang akan dibacanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan LKS pada materi menulis proposal karya ilmiah berbasis kontekstual siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian pengembangan atau Research and Development (R&D). Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu wawancara, kuisioner/angket, dan tes. Sedangkan teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini yaitu uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKS Menulis Proposal Karya Ilmiah berbasis kontekstual efektif meningkatkan kemampuan belajar siswa sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan ajar di sekolah. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan kevalidan LKS menulis proposal karya ilmiah berbasis kontekstual tergolong dalam kategori baik dengan persentase 79,80%. Selanjutnya, kepraktisan LKS memperoleh persentase 85,4% dengan kategori sangat positif. Kefektifan LKS menulis proposal karya ilmiah dilihat dari nilai rata-rata post-test lebih baik dari nilai rata-rata pre-test yaitu 81,52 lebih besar 57,45. Berdasarkan hasil output paired samples test nilai rata-rata sebelum dan sesudah sebesar 24,06 dengan Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,00 (lebih kecil dari alpha value). Dengan demikian, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan LKS menulis proposal karya ilmiah berbasis kontekstual.
