Os padrões de ensino das universidades ainda passam por processos de engessamento, e, é notável a falta de investimento e comprometimento das instituições com o retorno dos conhecimentos adquiridos para a sociedade em geral. Diante disso, são necessárias propostas metodológicas voltadas para vivências interdisciplinares, onde haja troca de experiências e conhecimentos entre o estudante e a comunidade. A fim de romper a barreira entre conhecimento acadêmico e conhecimento popular, o Grupo de Estudos da Amazônia (GEA) tem realizado nos últimos onze anos, atividades pedagógicas focadas no ensino através da vivencia. Em dois mil e quatorze a dois mil e quinze o GEA realizou um curso de iconografia da arte marajoara e uma vivência ao estado do Pará, envolvendo estudantes de diversos cursos da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) e também artesões. Através dos relatos dos participantes percebeu-se a ampliação do conhecimento teórico adquirido e uma grande conscientização dos estudantes perante a realidade regional. Dessa forma, reforça-se a importância de metodologiasde ensino voltadas a praticas de extensão.Palavras-chave: Práticas pedagógicas. Grupo de Estudos da Amazônia.
