Resumen Este estudio analizó las relaciones entre valores, creencias ambientales y comportamiento ecológico de trabajadores de una institución pública brasileña ubicada en Brasilia. Una muestra de 295 trabajadores del Ministerio Público del Distrito Federal y Territorios (52,5% mujeres) con media de edad de 39 años (DT = 8,3) respondió tres escalas. Una de los valores personales, una del comportamiento ecológico y una de las creencias ambientales en el contexto de trabajo. Los resultados revelaron que las creencias ecocéntricas, los valores de universalismo y estimulación y la edad fueron predictores positivos de comportamiento ecológico, mientras poder y nivel de escolaridad fueron predictores negativos de ese tipo de comportamiento. Esto sugiere que la institución debe enfatizar el fortalecimiento de metas de auto-transcendencia, el desarrollo de actividades más dinámicas, desafiadoras y que permitan a los servidores percibir ventajas personales y que los muestren a la población como sujetos sintonizados con las aspiraciones sociales de un mundo mejor, compatible con la imagen de la institución que representan.
