Self-ligating brackets are ligatureless bracket systems which are gaining immense popularity in contemporary orthodontics. Compared with conventional appliances, self-ligating mechanisms attribute their increased efficiency and reduced treatment time to their improved frictional characteristics.Aim: The present study was conducted to evaluate the kinetic frictional resistance of four self-ligating brackets: Two active types, (Speed TM and In-Ovation ® R) two passive types (Damon 3 and SmartClip) and compare them with conventional brackets ligated with elastomeric module.
