Complete fusion excitation functions for 11,10 B+ 159 Tb have been measured at energies around the respective Coulomb barriers, and the existing complete fusion measurements for 7 Li+ 159 Tb have been extended to higher energies. The measurements show significant reduction of complete fusion cross sections at above-barrier energies for both the reactions, 10 B+ 159 Tb and 7 Li+ 159 Tb, when compared to those for 11 B+ 159 Tb. The comparison shows that the extent of suppression of complete fusion cross sections is correlated with the α-separation energies of the projectiles. Also, the two reactions, 10 B+ 159 Tb and 7 Li+ 159 Tb were found to produce incomplete fusion products at energies near the respective Coulomb barriers, with the α-particle emitting channel being the favoured incomplete fusion process in both the cases.PACS number(s): 24.10. IntroductionThis chapter introduces the fundamentals of diffractive optics, the similarities and differences between diffractive and refractive optics, the advantages of diffractive optics, and current challenges in this field. A quick review of the theoretical formulation of diffraction is presented, along with different theoretical approximations and their validity regimes.
The influence of alpha clustering on nuclear reaction dynamics is investigated using the giant dipole resonance (GDR) lineshape studies in the reactions 20 Ne (E lab =145,160 MeV) + 12 C and 20 Ne (E lab =160 MeV) + 27 Al , populating 32 S and 47 V, respectively. The GDR lineshapes from the two systems are remarkably different from each other. Whereas, the non alpha-like 47 V undergoes Jacobi shape transition and matches exceptionally well with the theoretical GDR lineshape estimated under the framework rotating liquid drop model (RLDM) and thermal shape fluctuation model (TSFM) signifying shape equilibration, for alpha cluster 32 S an extended prolate kind of shape is observed. This unusual deformation, seen directly via γ-decay for the first time, is predicted to be due to the formation of orbiting di-nuclear configuration or molecular structure of 16 O+ 16 O in 32 S superdeformed band.
A speckle correlation based optical lever (SC-OptLev) is constructed for the measurement of small changes in the angle of orientation of a surface. The dynamic range of SC-OptLev is found to be twice that of a conventional OptLev for the same experimental configurations. Different filtering mechanisms are implemented and the correlation results are compared. Two types of computer automated SC-OptLevs, open source based computing system with a low-cost image sensor and a commercial computing system, are presented with assistive computational modules.
