The aim of this study is to examine the effect of personality traits, gender, age and effects of dispositional hope level in problematic internet usage of university students. Research Methods: This paper is an example of a descriptive study, which presents the relationship between problematic internet usage of university students considering personality traits, gender, age and dispositional hope level. The study group consists of 376 students from different universities. Research data was collected by using the Problematic Internet Usage Scale, The Big Five Inventory, and the Dispositional Hope Scale. In the analysis of data, parametric tests were used.
In this study, it is aimed to examine the lifelong learning tendencies of secondary school students and their attitudes towards English as a foreign language and whether there are differences in terms of gender, grade level and school type in terms of these two structures. The population of the study is composed of 744 students, 358 female and 386 male students selected from seven secondary schools by cluster sampling in 2017-2018 academic year, in the secondary schools in Kaynarca district of Sakarya province. Correlational survey model was used to examine these relationships. The 17-item Lifelong Learning Trends Scale developed by Gür-Erdoğan and Arsal (2016) was used to measure participants' lifelong learning tendencies. In order to measure the attitudes of the participants towards the English course, a 30-item Attitudes towards English Scale, which was developed by Hancı-Yanar (2008), was used. In the study, there was a moderate significant relationship between students’ lifelong learning tendencies and attitudes towards English course as a foreign language.
The aim of this research is detect teachers' opinions on primary-secondary school students' reading comprehension levels. This study was employed with interview method, which is one of qualitative research methods. Working group consist of 22 teachers, who work in a primary school in Kocaeli at second term of 2016-2017 academic year. The conclusion of the study is as below: 1. Almost all of the teachers have the opinion that students' reading comprehension levels are insufficient. 2. All of the teachers express that students have difficulty in comprehending and answering questions from long texts according to their observations as an indicator of reading comprehension levels. 3. Most of the teachers express that students' insufficient reading habit and families' lack of interest are the reasons of students' insufficient reading comprehension levels. 4. It is detected that almost all of the teachers do activities to improve students reading comprehension levels and the most popular activity of them is reading time in their own lessons. 5. Most of the teachers suggest that discussion method should be used in teaching-learning process, attractive and enjoyable reading activities suitable for all lessons should be done to improve students' reading comprehension levels and encourage students to read.
