The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge of dental hygiene students of the quality assurance of dental radiation such quality assurance and related educational experiences in an effort to accelerate the preparation of a curriculum for systematic quality-assurance. The subjects in this study were 453 dental hygiene students who participated in dental radiography courses. Varied statistical analyses such as frequency analyses, reliability, chi-square, and independent samples t-tests were conducted on the data collected, using SPSS 12.0. Scheffe test was also used after one-way ANOVA as post-hoc tests. Results showed that (a) the students' acknowledge level of Radiographic Quality Assurance was 7.71±1.7 out of 12 on average. The more theory and practical classes students took, the higher points they got (p<0.001); (b) Most of the students experienced 1-3 lessons out of 13 in practical training and 26.3% of students did not take any practical lesson. ;(c)Students who did not take any practical training got 7.20 points out of 13, students who took 1-3 lessons got 7.84 points out of 13, students who took 4-5 lessons got 7.87 points out of 13, and students who took more than 6 lessons got 8.14 points out of 13 on average. The more practical classes they took the higher acknowledge level they were. Therefore it needs to provide adequate practical lessons to them.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the level of professional ethics awareness and medical ethics competency in order to grasp the criteria of ethics items for the Korean dental hygienist licensing examination. Methods: Using a structured questionnaire, 358 clinical dental hygienists and e dental hygiene students were evaluated for their level of ethical awareness and medical ethics competency. The sub-factors of medical ethics were measured by classifying them into relationship with patients, medical and social relationships, and individual specialized fields. Results: As a result of the survey, the vocational ethics completion rate in the university curriculum was 32.1%, but 95.2% of respondents said that vocational ethics is important. Medical ethics competency was average, with a score of 3.37 out of 5, followed by ‘relationships with patients (3.75 points)’, ‘health and social relations (3.19 points)’, and ‘individual specialties (3.16 points).’ The level of vocational ethics awareness was higher in the group who completed the vocational ethics curriculum than the group who did not complete the course or the group who did not know whether to complete it.Conclusion: Dental hygienists are aware of the importance of occupational ethics, but medical ethics competency has been found to be at a mid-level. Therefore, medical ethics should be treated as a required subject in university curriculum, and medical ethics competency evaluation should be strengthened through adding ethics items to the Korean dental hygienist licensing examination.
This research is a data analysis result of a future gout treatment was carried out in order to take advantage of basic data by Planned Population Federation of Korea in 2012, classified by gender. Using SPSS 18.0 analysis, frequency analysis, chi-squared analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted. As a result, there were exceptional number of male subjects that required hyperuricemia thorough complete examination, and in case of hypouricemia, it is notable to find much more female subjects (p<0.001).. Subjects that required thorough complete examination per age group and hypouricemia were significantly higher in those above the age of 70 years(p<0.001). Conclusions that required hyperuricemia thorough complete examination were a bit higher in the city areas and hypouricemia was a bit higher in the county areas, hyperuricemia was a bit higher in ratio in inland areas and hypouricemia was a bit higher in ratio in the coastal areas. I believe that continuous observation of gout prevalence rate based on this research by year, age group, and gender, would be extremely useful in making decisions regarding the changing trend of gout prevalence rate. In addition, hyperuricemia increased in postmenopausal women, as well as research on the causes of hypouricemia study.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the satisfaction with instruction medium according to learner attitude and lecture mode in the dental hygiene students. Methods: A web-based self-reported questionnaire was complected by 155 dental hygiene students in Cheonan from May 26 to June 5, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, school adaptation, interest to learn, effort to learn, faculty centered lecture, learner centered lecture, self-directed learning, motivation to learn, characteristics of each subject, and satisfaction with lecture mode. The study was approved by institutional review board (IRB) by Baekseok University. Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression were used to evaluate the satisfaction to medium of instruction according to explanation factors. Results: The lecture mode, opportunity and motivation to learn, interest to learn and effort to learn were the significant factors to satisfaction with instruction medium. In multivariate logistic regression model, the adjusted odds ratio was 6.28 for the opportunity to learn and 4.87 for the interesting to learn. Conclusions: The satisfaction with instruction medium is the most important factor that decides the lecture mode and learner attitude including opportunity to learn and concern to learn.
