We have calculated cross sections for the production of W± and Z bosons in association with one and two jets at [Formula: see text] collider energies. The rates for these processes in second-order QCD are compared with jet rates measured by UA1 and CDF.
The main feature of the planar gauge, apart from the decoupling of ghosts, is the nontransversality of the Yang-Mills self-energy with the resulting appearance of a pincer diagram in the Ward identity. We employ the general prescription for axial-type gauges, recently developed by one of the authors, to check this Ward identity and derive BRS-invariant counterterms in the planar gauge.
The statistical mechanics of the quasi-one-dimensional system of DNA is studied with the Morse and Deng-Fan potentials for the interstrand hydrogen bonds of nucleotide pairs. The intrastrand interactions between nucleotides are characterized by a simple harmonic potential in which the coupling strength has a significant effect on the phase transition of the DNA system.
The statistical mechanics of DNA denaturation is studied with the Morse potential. We point out that the results of Peyrard and Bishop do not correctly reflect the statistics relation <y2> ≥ <y>2, at the region of delocalized states, for the DNA interstrand separation y. The correct results are given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
