Premier loisir audiovisuel français, le jeu vidéo fascine, inquiète et perturbe les repères éducatifs des familles. Motif de consultation fréquent dans la clinique contemporaine des professionnels, l’addiction au jeu vidéo interroge tout autant sur sa pertinence terminologique que sur les formes qu’elle revêt à l’adolescence. L’article propose d’exposer quelques repères de la littérature scientifique existante sur l’addiction au jeu vidéo et de la mettre en perspective avec les troubles concomitants comme la phobie scolaire et la dépression. La réflexion clinico-théorique s’appuie sur le cas d’un adolescent reçu au sein d’une mda (maison de l’adolescent). Cette étude de cas repose sur l’articulation entre éléments d’entretiens et analyse de l’évaluation psychologique d’un jeune homme de 16 ans. Ceci permettra de discuter l’hypothèse selon laquelle l’espace du jeu vidéo représente un expédient narcissique élaboratif et soutient un aménagement défensif spécifique face à la dépression, en résonance à la désidéalisation parentale.
