Qualitative data from a two-year study provides school administration and technology staff understandings and challenges with their use of surveillance in their role. School administration and technology staff offer their understandings of their need to conduct privacy impact assessments (PIA) when student personally identifiable data may be collected, stored or disseminated to 3rd parties. Connections between advancements of privacy in electronic health records and record keeping of student confidential information is discussed as it relates to storing of confidential data and the inappropriateness of an all-access pass for employees.

This study investigated how the combination of teacher and peer status helped to improve online communication for students aged 10-12 in Google Classroom. The research questions guiding this study considered (1) how teachers of students (aged 10-12 years) use Google Classroom in mathematics to facilitate discourse; and (2) how teachers perceive their use of Google Classroom in mathematics have changed their students' (aged 10-12 years) engagement in mathematical processes.
Theoretical FrameworkGommans, Segers, Burk and Scholte (2015) note that, despite numerous collaborative studies, the role of peer status is understudied. Gommans, et al. ( 2015) study of 264 children aged 10-12 years old suggests that status is related to social competence and greater communicative skills, allowing high status students to construct, clarify and elaborate with greater ease than their lower status peers. While students of lower ability have been shown to have learned more when paired with more able students, Gommans et al. (2015) note "high status children interact differently with their peers than low status children" (p. 599), suggesting that peer status is an important consideration for teachers selecting collaboration partners.Teachers that consider the role of peer status in their groups may potentially have found an effective way to improve learning and promote positive social behaviour (Gommans et. al., 2015). Boaler (2008) considered the importance of status in her research of mixed abilities in collaborative settings. As an educator, Boaler (2008) recommends "teachers raising the status of students that may be of a lower status in a group" (p.

This observational study of caregiver engagement with personal devices and their child in family-friendly restaurants compared Canadian families with past studies to determine parent-child communication and parental levels of engagement with their personal device in the presence of their child; and the accuracy of the hypothesized result of a negative relationship between the number of people seated together and the duration of time each individual spends on a personal device. More specifically, to note if larger gatherings of people seated together in family-friendly restaurants is associated with decreased time spent on personal electronic devices for caregivers. The study compared Canadian data with data collected in similar studies conducted in Europe and the United States to help inform psychologists, social workers and other caregivers who work with parents of children aged 12 and under.
