Project Kö‐Bogen in Düsseldorf – Influence on the flyover “Tausendfüßler” due to a deep excavation and due to underpass by TBMDeep excavations in urban areas usually involve special challenges arising from the relevant boundary conditions. In particular, the proximity to existing buildings often demands a specific and detailed consideration of the interaction between the pit excavation and building inventory.Centrally located in the downtown core of the state capital Düsseldorf, an area will be developed within the project Kö‐Bogen I. Outstanding is an about 20 m deep excavation located immediately next to the flyover, that is called “Tausendfüßler”. Furthermore are the foundations of the single columns of the Tausendfüßler in the area of direct influence of an underpass by a tunnel boring machine (TBM) for a light rail tunnel. The boundary conditions that arise here are and the interactions between new and existing constructions are highlighted. In a critical comparison of the results of deformation measurements and predictions are specific aspects of the planning and monitoring described.
Passive earth pressure for a variable rotation point of a wall on the basis of hypoplasticity. Numerical simulations with the finiteelement-method show, that the failure mechanisms for a variable rotation point on the axis of the wall are different from the classical solutions. This leads to mobilization curves and coefficientsof passive earth pressure differing from the ones used in practice. The calculations give values of the passive earth pressure, which are essentially higher than those from classical methods.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
