Este volumen presenta una serie de estudios que proyectan su interés sobre el mundo antiguo y su permanencia a través de los siglos. Los autores aquí reunidos construyen un entramado de abordajes que develan desde diversos puntos de vista la potencia simbólica y expresiva de la literatura grecolatina. En ese sentido, se propone una indagación acerca de la reescritura de textos clásicos y la intertextualidad entre mitos y motivos de la literatura antigua en general y dramaturgias posteriores. Cada uno de los estudios presentados busca echar luz sobre las razones de su pervivencia en la crítica, en la literatura y en la escena teatral.
En distintos pasajes de la palliata es posible leer indicios de las lógicas rituales que enmarcan los ludi scaenici. Ciertas máscaras remedan una auctoritas histriónica que permite dar curso al acontecimiento teatral mediante el poder de una parodia hilarante de la celebración del ritual. Esta capacidad de persuadir a los espectadores para entrar al espacio lúdico de la representación incluye también una demanda: silencio, atención y valoración ecuánime por parte de ellos. Actores y público se unen así como oficiantes y auxiliares del convivio teatral en un pacto de reciprocidad equitativa cuya relevancia es analizada en este artículo.
Duckworth1 reconoce en Stichus tres fabulae constitutivas. En este artículo se analiza el rol que el tiempo juega en cada una de ellas: primero, el conflicto suscitado por una perspectiva dispar asumida respecto de la mutabilidad o inmutabilidad de las relaciones sociales, instituciones tales como el matrimonio y valores como la pietas; segundo, las quejas del parasitus en torno a los tiempos actuales de hambre y carencia, contrapuestos a un pasado “generoso” de convites; finalmente, una jornada de libertad concedida a los esclavos, espacio de celebración efímera, cuya fugacidad implica la inminencia del retorno al orden social establecido.
En el corpus plautino, lo aequum constituye un tópico en las transacciones entre las entidades dramáticas: la equidad del dar y el recibir, propia del intercambio económico, reaparece como sustrato en la lógica de los discursos jurídicos, religiosos y sociales. En este artículo, se apunta a dilucidar cómo interviene este concepto en el entramado teatral de Poenulus y Amphitruo. Se analiza en qué medida la transgresión o preservación de la equidad caracteriza a las personae a partir del modo en que sus acciones apuntan a restablecer lo equitativo cuando surgen desequilibrios en el ius. Por último, se consideran los efectos en el auditorio, en la medida en que la intencionalidad persuasiva de la acción dramática propone un tránsito desde la inaequalitas hacia la aequalitas.
